Culpeper’s Indigenous People:
The Manahoac 1000 C.E. – Present

The Manahoac people are indigenous to Culpeper County and their history and culture is part of the legacy of this region. This program explores their traditions and social structures. Through primary source material including maps and period images, this program addresses the impact of contact with European cultures.

Culpeper’s Religious Freedom:
From Jailed Ministers to the First Amendment

Culpeper was right in the heart of the fight for religious freedom in the United States. This program explores the timeline of events that lead to the creation of the First Amendment. Through the analysis of primary documents participants will learn about the path to religious freedom in this country.
