Little Learners

“Little Learners” is the museum’s interactive series of children’s programming that brings fun facts, objects, and activities out of the past to your family today!

The series, targeted at ages 2-5, will be held monthly. Each month will feature a different story, activity, and craft inspired by local history.

A Parent/guardian must accompany their children.

THIS EVENT IS STRICTLY LIMITED TO 15 CHILDREN. PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED! After registration, if you are no longer able to attend please let the Education Coordinator know so we can offer the spot to another child.

Participants may be photographed for use in museum promotional and marketing material.

For more information, contact Christine Wuebker, Education Coordinator, at education@culpepermuseum.com or call (540) 829-1749.

This program is FREE thanks to a Power of Change grant from the Rappahannock Electric Cooperative.

Past Programs

Fun and Games!

What did toys look like a long time ago? Join us in December to learn about toys and games from the past. Participants will discover what kids played with, play with toys and games from the past, and make a toy to take home.

Thanksgiving!

As we get ready to celebrate Thanksgiving, it is important to remember what the holiday is all about. This month, participants will learn about the meaning of Thanksgiving, gather a bountiful feast, and make a cornucopia to take home.

Halloween!

Calling all little ghosts and goblins! Dress in your Halloween costume (age-appropriate and NO MASKS, please) and come learn about getting ready for Halloween, go “trick-or-treating” with some Halloween creatures, and make a friendly jack-o-lantern to take home.

Maps!

Maps can tell us all sorts of things, such as where to find buried treasure or how to get to a friend’s house. Join us this month as we learn about maps, use a map to locate items in the museum, and create a treasure map to take home.

Jobs!

What do you want to be when you grow up? A doctor, a police officer, a firefighter. Come learn about different jobs, put together different uniforms people wear, and make a hat to take home.

Museums!

History, art, science, zoos – what do these things have in common? They are all kinds of museums. Join us this month as we learn about different types of museums, hunt for artifacts in the museum, and make an exhibit to take home.

Flags!

The American flag has many names and serves as a symbol of the United States of America. Join us as we celebrate our flag and learn about its history. Participants will make their own flags to take home.
