Volunteer
Are you interested in local, state, or national history? Do you like teaching and sharing information? Do you enjoy meeting new people every day?
The Museum of Culpeper History is seeking volunteers to help with its daily operations and ongoing programs. Our volunteers allow us to put visitors in touch with the story of Culpeper’s past every day, seven days a week. Without their hard work and support, we would not be able to do the work we do!
Current volunteer opportunities:
Docent: The museum is constantly seeking docents to welcome visitors, process admissions, convey information, and make gift shop sales. Docents provide a brief orientation to visitors upon request, and may be asked to assist with any museum programs taking place during the day. Volunteer docents must make a minimum monthly commitment of six hours of volunteer work (two 3 hour shifts).
Program Assistant: The museum is looking for experienced creators of educational content to expand and improve our available school, children’s, and family programming. Program assistants are sought who can develop new lesson plans and activities and aid in their delivery to audiences. Volunteers in this position must undergo a background check.
