Elementary Explorers
“Elementary Explorers” is the museum’s interactive series of children’s programming that brings fun facts, objects, and activities out of the past and to life!
The series, targeted at ages 5-9, will be held monthly. Each month will feature a different activity and craft inspired by local history.
A Parent/guardian must accompany their children.
THIS EVENT IS STRICTLY LIMITED TO 15 CHILDREN. PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED! After registration, if you are no longer able to attend please let the Education Coordinator know so we can offer the spot to another child.
Participants may be photographed for use in museum promotional and marketing material.
For more information, contact Christine Wuebker, Education Coordinator, at education@culpepermuseum.com or call (540) 829-1749.
This program is FREE thanks to a Power of Change grant from the Rappahannock Electric Cooperative.

Past Programs
Weather!
What do tornadoes, hurricanes, and blizzards have in common? They are all types of weather. Join us this month as we explore various weather occurrences, hunt for accessories needed for different weather conditions, and make a rain stick to take home.
President’s Day!
In honor of Presidents’ Day, children will learn about different Presidents from the past, some with connections to Culpeper. They will assemble various presidential outfits and make a George Washington figure to take home.
Old Time Toys!
How did children play in the past? Join us in December as we explore the types of toys and games children played with when the country was being founded. Participants will learn about historic toys and games, have the opportunity to try their hand at a few of them, and then make a toy to take home.
Thanksgiving!
Thanksgiving, as the name suggests, is a time to give thanks for all the wonderful people and things in our lives. People celebrate Thanksgiving in many different ways. This month, participants will explore what Thanksgiving is all about, hunt for food to make a feast, and create a cornucopia to take home.
Halloween!
Ever wonder why we carve jack-o’-lanterns or go trick-or-treating at Halloween? Well, put on your Halloween costume (age-appropriate and NO MASKS, please), and come explore fun Halloween traditions, help Halloween monsters get supplies for their holiday party, and make a ghost to take home.
Maps!
People use maps every day, from getting directions somewhere to checking the weather radar. Join us this month as we explore maps and the different information they can provide, use a map to navigate through the museum, and make a map of the United States to take home.
Careers!
Have you ever been asked: What do you want to be when you grow up? There are so many options these days, from doctor to lawyer to professional video game player. Come explore different career choices, the uniforms worn by different professions, and make a professional figure to take home.
Museums!
Museums are places with really cool things, from art to old tools to dinosaur skeletons. Join us this month as we explore what a museum is, hunt for interesting artifacts in our museum, and then make an artifact to take home.
